no game trying to do some kind of metatexual morality thing making the player feel culpable for their actions by giving them the option to be nice or kill everyone has made me feel anywhere near how guilty and sick to my stomach Drakengard made me feel when you blast a bunch of enemies on the ground into nothing with Angelus. and it wasn't even About That
#like ive enjoyed a lot of those metatextual type games. but that aspect questioning the players morality never hit for me#it always felt slightly off. maybe i was always just a little bit too cognizant that choices or not this is still bits and bytes#made to be played and seen in the end. ludonarrative dissonance or whatever LOL#BUT somehow drakengard got me. i felt like. dizzy. awesome game. dont play it?#i guess the way to make me feel complicit in a video game is make the game kind of suck to play? and make it unrelenting in everything else#and also sell it in retail stores in 2003. and give it a soundtrack of remixed classical music to sound as intense as possible#like i dunno the only thing i could do to stop it all is shut off the game. but i couldnt. i needed to keep going. and that somehow made me#feel more responsible than any game where you can choose to kill your friends LOL i dont know how to explain it orz
